Важным вкладом в организацию международных молодежных путешествий в 1970-80-е гг. стало развитие такой популярной и эффективной формы молодежных обменов, как поезда, рейсы, круизы дружбы. Начало обмена поездами дружбы было положено в марте 1962 г., когда впервые такой обмен, посвященный годовщине создания братских молодежных союзов, состоялся между ВЛКСМ и СВНМ (Союз свободной немецкой молодежи). С тех пор это сотрудничество стало традиционным и распространилось на молодежные организации Болгарии, Венгрии, Монголии, Польши, Чехословакии и других стран социализма.

An important contribution to the organization of international youth travel in the 1970s and 80s was the development of such a popular and effective form of youth exchanges as trains, flights, cruises of friendship. The beginning of the exchange of friendship trains was laid in March 1962, when for the first time such an exchange, dedicated to the anniversary of the creation of fraternal youth unions, took place between the Komsomol and the SVNM (Union of Free German Youth). Since then, this cooperation has become traditional and has spread to youth organizations in Bulgaria, Hungary, Mongolia, Poland, Czechoslovakia and other countries of socialism.
