16 января 1963 года было принято решение организовать отделение Союза писателей РСФСР в городе Тюмени. Днем рождения писательской организации принято считать 16 февраля 1963 года, когда состоялось первое торжественное учредительное собрание Тюменского отделения Союза писателей РСФСР.
Писательская организация создавалась в период освоения Западно-Сибирского нефтегазового комплекса. Учредить организацию Тюменский сельский обком партии предложил группе профессиональных писателей Ермакову, Истомину, Лагунову, Еловских, Николаеву и Звереву. Ответственным секретарем избрали Константина Лагунова, который руководил организацией следующие 20 лет.
26 мая 1967 года Тюменское отделение Союза писателей РСФСР было переименовано в Тюменскую писательскую организацию. Сейчас организация носит название Тюменское региональное отделение «Союза писателей России».

On January 16, 1963, it was decided to organize a branch of the Writers' Union of the RSFSR in the city of Tyumen. The birthday of the writers' organization is considered to be February 16, 1963, when the first solemn constituent meeting of the Tyumen branch of the Writers' Union of the RSFSR took place.
The writers' organization was created during the development of the West Siberian oil and gas complex. The Tyumen Rural Regional Party Committee proposed to establish an organization to a group of professional writers Ermakov, Istomin, Lagunov, Yelovskikh, Nikolay and Zverev. Konstantin Lagunov, who led the organization for the next 20 years, was elected executive secretary.
On May 26, 1967, the Tyumen branch of the Writers' Union of the RSFSR was renamed into the Tyumen Writers' Organization. Now the organization is called the Tyumen regional branch of the Union of Writers of Russia.
