9 мая 1968 г. на Исторической площади Тюмени открыт Мемориал победы в Великой Отечественной войне 1941 - 1945». Памятный знак выполнен из гранита, мрамора, бетона. Над ним работали скульпторы Р. Мелик-Акопян и Л. Лазарев и архитекторы А. Тарантул, Е. Федоров, С. Соколов.
Центральное место в монументе занимает обелиск. Его высота - 28 метров. Создала его художественная мастерская из Ленинграда. По замыслу авторов, обелиск ‑ это стилизованный меч, оружие древних воинов. За обелиском находится стена с барельефом, изображающим героизм военных лет, Родину-мать, сразившую фашизм. Поверженное чудовище, лежащее у ног Родины- матери. На пилоне у Вечного огня написаны имена тюменцев - Героев Советского Союза и полных кавалеров ордена Славы.

On May 9, 1968, the Victory Memorial in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was opened on the Historical Square of Tyumen . The memorial sign is made of granite, marble and concrete. Sculptors R. Melik-Hakobyan and L. Lazarev and architects A. Tarantula, E. Fedorov, S. Sokolov worked on it.
The central place in the monument is occupied by an obelisk. Its height is 28 meters. It was created by an art workshop from Leningrad. According to the authors, the obelisk is a stylized sword, the weapon of ancient warriors. Behind the obelisk there is a wall with a bas-relief depicting the heroism of the war years, the Motherland that defeated fascism - a defeated monster lying at the feet of the Motherland. The names of Tyumen residents - Heroes of the Soviet Union and full cavaliers of the Order of Glory are written on the pylon at the Eternal Flame.
