Geological exploration in the Tyumen region from 1948 to 1950 was carried out by the Tyumen rotary drilling party, subordinate to the Novosibirsk Geological Exploration Expedition. Based on the orders of the Ministry of Geology of the USSR No. 627 dated April 28, 1950 and the Zapsibneftegeologiya Trust No. 101 dated May 15, 1950, the Tyumen rotary drilling party was reorganized into a geological exploration expedition.
By Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 2858-1090s of June 21, 1952 and by order of the Ministry of Geology of the USSR No. 1335k of September 16 of the same year, the expedition was liquidated, and the Tyumen Trust for Oil and Gas Exploration "Tyumenneftegeologiya" was organized on its basis. Later, by the resolution of the SNH of the Tyumen Administrative Economic District No. 8 of June 20, 1957, on the basis of the liquidated trusts "Tyumenneftegeologiya" and "ZapSibneftegeofizika", the Tyumen Geological Exploration Trust was created, which, on the basis of the order of the Main Department of Geology and Subsoil Protection, was transformed into the Tyumen Territorial Geological Department.
In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Geology of the RSFSR No. 420 dated August 22, 1966, the Tyumen Territorial Geological Department was reorganized into the Main Tyumen Production of the Order of Lenin Geological Department (Glavtyumengeology). On January 12, 1990 "Glavtyumengeologiya" was abolished, on its basis the Tyumen Geological concern "Tyumengeologiya" was formed, liquidated on February 14, 1996.
Everyone in our country knows the name of Farman Kurbanovich Salmanov. The discoverer of Siberian oil, one of the world's most famous scientists and practical geologists. Organizer of geological exploration in Western Siberia (since 1957), Head of Glavtyumengeology (1978-1987), First Deputy Minister of Geology of the USSR (1987-1991), President of CJSC Rospan International, Adviser to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of LLC Oil and Gas Company ITERA and Chairman of the Board of Directors of LLC Yugneftegaz (1992-2001).
Farman Kurbanovich remained a patriot of Russia, a patriot of the Tyumen region until the end of his life. Salmanov generated tremendous energy. He was very hardworking. Even when there was stagnation in the country, thanks to him, everyone in Glavtyumengeology worked on the main task – to minimize the cost of increasing reserves.
The beginning of Perestroika was a great tragedy for Salmanov, he was very worried, wrote to the president, was at a reception with the prime minister. New people came who said: "We don't need the North. For us, for the country, he is a burden." The second terrible message: "There is no need to produce anything, we will buy everything." We have stopped engaging in industry, agriculture, and now we are trying to restore everything with heroic efforts – we are engaged in import substitution. It hurts!
