The history of the Varioganneft enterprise dates back more than 40 years, but the development of the Varioganskoye field began earlier. In 1967, prospecting well No. 1P of the Variogan field uncovered a gas-bearing reservoir, and in 1968 drilling of well No. 2P was started, where the first oil fountain was obtained. The history of the Variogan field, which is the largest in Western Siberia, began with this well, the commercial operation of which began in May 1974.
The formation of Varioganneft began with the formation of a workshop that was part of the NGDU Megionneft enterprise. The necessary materials were delivered from Megion and Nizhnevartovsk along the Agan River for geological exploration, drilling and well construction.
In 1976, oil production volumes reached high levels, and the need to create an independent enterprise here matured. So on September 24, 1976 it was decided to create NGDU "Varioganneft", which began its work on November 1. The new enterprise gave life to the village of Raduzhny, later transformed into a city. In May 1993, the Open Joint Stock Company "Varioganneft" was registered in Raduzhny.
Today, PJSC Varioganneft is the owner of a license for the right to use the subsoil of the Variogansky subsoil area and provides oil production services at the Zapadno-Variogansky, Tagrinsky, Novo-Agansky Valyuninsky, Yuzhno-Yarainersky subsoil areas to the owner of licenses for the right to use these areas – PJSC NK RussNeft. The city-forming enterprise provides impressive support to the city of Raduzhny, allocates funds to finance important municipal programs. Provides targeted financial assistance to WWII veterans, disabled people, educational, cultural and sports institutions, Orthodox churches, mosques, public organizations and residents of the city of Raduzhny.
